A Tribute to Johnny Cash

In addition to being a published author . . .

I’ve been a Johnny Cash personality since the mid 1970’s. After several bands, I’ve decided to convert the stage show honoring the legendary Johnny Cash by switching to a Duo Acoustic format. This decision was in part due to the Covid epidemic of 2019. Most establishments would not book live acts. Afterward, these same establishments discovered that they could still present top-notch entertainment to their dining/drinking customers for less money up front. Hence, MANY entertainers saw this and switched their stage presence to either a Solo Acoustic show or a Duo.

Beginning in 2024, I will be joined by Dave Hansen, of the Bluegrass group, ‘Kinda Grassy‘. Dave is a professional guitarist and has produced his own bluegrass CD full of songs penned by his late stepfather.

Dead Write, a novella by J. Combs

Retired high school teacher Jimmy See has made a spur-of-the-moment purchase at a local flea market; an antique typewriter. The perfect tool for a wannabe writer who has everything, including a box of rejection letters. Which is fine if you don’t mind occasionally letting the typewriter do some of the work.

Witch hunter Thomas See accused Harlan Anderson of witchcraft in the late 1600s. Before Harlan died, he vowed he would punish every descendant of Thomas from the grave. He has returned to make good on that promise.

Jimmy See has been at odds with fellow teacher James Wade for decades. Wade, nothing more than a big flirt, was a self-proclaimed ladies’ man; dangerously making passes at Julie Ann See, Jimmy’s wife, for years.

The first thing Jimmy does with the old typewriter is create a fictional, vindictive event he wishes would happen to James Wade. When that event occurs, Jimmy See dismisses it as pure coincidence. Was it? Or was it the work of the deceased Harlan Anderson or some other evil force?
